Annual Events

The National Women’s Project sponsors several annual events to include:

  •  Mother’s Day Luncheon- In May which honors "Mothers" and to encourage Mothers to move forward victoriously.  Women in suppo rtive and transitional housing across Baltimore join together. A topic is presented, which  time we celebrate life, freedom, and count our blessings.
  •  Rites Of Passage- An emotional healing retreat hosted every August for women who have survived various traumatic events in their lives. This one day is filled with activities to heal through the pain and move forward. Retreat is  facilitated by trauma specialist to provide mental health healing.
  • Women Empowering Women’s Conference- Is the only women’s re-entry conference of its type where women from the criminal justice system get together to attend workshops, celebrate recovery, receive make-overs and learn how to stay out of prison.

  • This conference provides two tracks - one for PILS (previously incarcerated ladies, and service providers who work with this specific population to learn best practices that are gender responsive.  Hundreds of women attend this conference held every November to give thanks.

  •  CHIIP Christmas Program- Children having incarcerated Parents. Program designed for the children with incarcerated parents. Every December the children whose parents are incarcerated have a special party where they are provided gifts from their absent parents. Caregiver/Persons from the community are provided the chance to purchase gifts to shower the children in the name of the parents who can not be there. Parities are also provided inside of the correctional facilities where the children can share the day with their parent and take the gifts home.
